Summary:
Pencils & Paper, a program of Jewish Family Services, provides free school supplies to teachers at high poverty schools – ensuring every student the opportunity for academic success and personal growth. As Warehouse Coordinator, you will be responsible for the general management and organization of the warehouse area, including its inventory and product movement. JFS is committed to providing services to the community regardless of their faith, national origin, gender identification, or sexual orientation or financial situation.
Part-time position. 15 hours/week. Flexible. $16-$17.50/hr.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately receive, sort, count, record inventory donations/supplies in a timely manner.
- Record any damaged, missing, or faulty donations/supplies.
- Move the donations/supplies to the correct area in the warehouse, either manually or using mechanical handling equipment.
- Label donations with identifying information.
- Break down products as needed.
- Organize products according to warehouse layouts.
- Update product storage list. Keep accurate records of donations/supplies, their location, and quantity.
- Pick up and deliver donations/supplies as needed.
- Break down boxes and prepare for pick up. Dispose of trash in appropriate outdoor receptacles.
- Utilize manual and electric pallet jacks and potentially provide training.
- Assign stocking/material handling tasks to volunteers.
- Meet routinely with staff and volunteers to discuss improvements, systematic changes, stocking/sorting needs and solutions to run the warehouse more efficiently and effectively.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions and safety methods.
- Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages.
- Ability to use basic tools & equipment such as rolling carts, dock carts, & portable pallet jack.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Physical loading, unloading/sorting of packages by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Moving, handling and tracking packages/stock and other materials.
- Repetitive tasks for 1.5-4-hour shifts.
- Ability to move and climb a ladder.
Education and Experience:
- High School degree or GED. 1-2 years relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other Office products.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
