Vice President of Marketing & Communications

Summary:

The Vice President of Marketing and Communications is responsible for executing and overseeing all aspects of the agency’s marketing and communications initiatives. This position will leverage brand and reputation to increase the agency’s visibility, articulate its unique role in the local nonprofit sector and Jewish community, deepen donor engagement, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences with varying connections to the agency. The VP of Marketing and Communications will operate at both the strategic and tactical levels to accomplish the goals of the annual marketing and communications plan. The VP of Marketing and Communications will guide and oversee relationships with vendors, ensuring effective use of agency resources towards strategic goals. The VP of Marketing and Communications will partner closely with agency staff to develop useful marketing materials, execute meaningful storytelling campaigns, and otherwise leverage the agency’s programs, brand, and reputation through a variety of platforms. The VP of Marketing and Communications will be an integral partner to the agency’s fundraising efforts, contributing ideas and collateral materials towards the goal of generating funds to support the agency’s mission. This position is a member of the agency’s Senior Leadership Team and will contribute to decision-making across all agency concerns.

Full-time/Exempt. 37.5 hour work week. Salary $75-90,000/Annually.  Generous benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual strategic marketing and communications plan that supports agency’s goals, programs, and engagement needs
  • Drive the agency’s brand strategy to accomplish the goals and objectives of the agency’s strategic plan.
  • Identify, track and report up on KPIs aligned to marketing and communications goals.
    • Set and monitor goals related to social media metrics and other marketing indicators.
    • Ensure maximized website performance, including tracking keyword rankings and SEO strategies critical to meeting strategic goals.
    • Continually evaluate the set strategy to build upon successes and mitigate marketing tactics that aren’t working.
  • Partner with agency staff to ensure programmatic needs are met strategically through appropriate marketing programs.
  • Manage and administer the agency’s digital marketing program, including social media, website, and email campaigns.
  • Source and create copy from internal and external sources for marketing and communications materials.
  • Approve and track-to-budget marketing expenditures.
  • Cultivate effective and positive relationships with key partners, specifically their marketing teams, to identify opportunities to maximize engagement from shared audiences.
  • Cultivate effective and positive relationships with key vendors and establish a clear shared vision for all vended projects.
  • Manage agency event promotion.
  • In partnership with the CEO and other agency leaders, identify public relations opportunities and engage local media in coverage of key stories.
  • Keep a consistent pulse on community and human services sector news, partners, competitors, risks and opportunities.
  • Provide proactive, strategic advice, ideas, and recommendations related to marketing and communications and other agency concerns.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • At least 10 years’ experience providing in-house nonprofit marketing, or comparable experience acting as an external partner to nonprofit agencies.
  • Knowledge of the human services environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Jewish values and voice is a plus.
  • Leadership experience including direct supervision of staff and collaborative decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 suite as well as key marketing and communications tools including automation, social media, SEO tools and web analytics.
  • Must have a passion for thought partnership and developing/implementing a shared vision.
  • Must have excellent analytical, leadership, writing, and communication skills.
