Marketing & Development Associate


The Marketing & Development Associate will support the planning, coordination and execution of all JFS Rochester marketing and fundraising initiatives. They will be responsible for coordinating digital/traditional marketing and communications and support efforts related to financial resource development and the increase of donation revenues. The Marketing & Development Associate, under the direction of the VP of Marketing & Development, will work with internal teams and external audiences to enhance the brand and efforts of JFS Rochester.            

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications:

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance the visibility and brand awareness of JFS Rochester.
  • Create and manage content for various communication channels, including the website, social media, and email campaigns.
  • Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of marketing materials, both internally and with outsourced vendors.
  • Manage and grow JFS Rochester’s social media presence by creating engaging content and interacting with followers.
  • Collaborate with team members to organize and promote events and campaigns that support the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Engage in community outreach activities. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop content, stories and testimonials.
  • Understand how to monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

Development & Fundraising:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events to increase donation revenues.
  • Coordinate the design, production, and distribution of development materials.
  • Identify new opportunities for fundraising activities.
  • Conduct research to identify potential donors and sponsors.
  • Help coordinate donor cultivation and stewardship plans, along with donor recognition strategies
  • Help maintain donor database and reporting dashboards. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, and community partners.
  • Provide support for development activities, including preparing correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • Cross-train recording and generation of  acknowledgements for all Agency donations, cash and in-kind.
  • Attending  all staff meetings and participating in staff development as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff and provide coverage as requested.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or an Associate’s degree with equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit development and fundraising preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems.
  • Experience with donor management software and fundraising databases. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for the mission of JFS Rochester and a commitment to supporting the community.

Salary & Benefits:

This full-time position offers an hourly rate between $22 – $24/hour or $42,900 – $46,800 annually. You’ll be eligible to participate in our health and dental insurance plans, with JFS contributing a prorated amount annually.
