Groups and Educational Offerings

We offer therapy/support groups and educational offerings (webinars and workshops) that support the mental health and wellness of community members.  Past offerings have included, for example, webinars on stress management, mindfulness groups for parents, and drop-in virtual support groups during the pandemic. Upcoming groups and offerings include:

Mothers & Babies

Gather with moms of new babies up to one year old to grow your toolbox for managing stress and daily life with your little one(s). The Mothers & Babies group gives you strategies for creating healthy behaviors, healthy thoughts and positive social support. The Mothers & Babies Group begins September 21st, and meets weekly from 10am to 12pm at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Lipson Lounge.  Limited spots available.

Caregiver Support Group

This support group offers caregivers emotional and social support as well as educational information to assist those caring for a loved one. This group is for spouses, children, and any other family member or friend caring for a loved one.

Our support group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 12:30pm – 1:30 pm in the Lipson Lounge at the JCC.

Nondenominational Therapy Group For Teen Girls with anxiety

Do you know a teen suffering from anxiety?  Please send your name and phone number to Rachel Glazer at rglazer@jfsrochester.org to discuss if this therapy group is right for you or your child.

  • Your anxiety toolkit – tips and techniques
  • Negative thinking patterns and how they affect us
  • Perfectionism and its relationship to anxiety

Sara Line

The Sara Line is a confidential hotline intended for members of the Jewish community who have experienced some form of domestic abuse including emotional, physical, financial, sexual, or verbal attacks.

School Counselor

The Jewish Family Services (JFS) School Counselor provides services to meet the social, emotional, developmental, and mental health needs of children and youth at Jewish day schools, religious schools, and child care centers.

SPACE

Are you the parent or a caregiver of a child or adolescent who struggles with anxiety, OCD, or related problems? Introducing SPACE – Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions – a parent-based treatment program designed to help families navigate these challenging issues.
