JFS Rochester provides assistance with basic needs such as food and school supplies to individuals and families. These programs are designed to provide critical support to individuals and families in our community who are facing difficult times.
JFS serves the Greater Rochester community with a commitment to addressing essential human needs, promoting self-sufficiency, and fostering social and economic empowerment. We also offer access to essential resources, such as food, transportation, and school supplies, that help people maintain their quality of life. Anyone who accesses our basic needs resources, will be asked if they have other needs that JFS may be able to help with; our goal is to meet the needs of whole people and families.
The Brighton Food Cupboard at JFS helps reduce and prevent hunger and food insecurity for people living in Brighton and surrounding communities. Weekly food deliveries, including Kosher, vegetarian, and gluten free options, are made directly to individuals and families.
Helping individuals and families facing housing instability access resources, support, and connections that promote safe, stable housing and long-term well-being. Based at Brighton Food Cupboard, the program provides housing-focused guidance before challenges become crises.
Every year JFS Rochester distributes hundreds of holiday baskets for all major Jewish holidays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, ensuring all in our community has support during multiple holiday seasons
